Gift Giving Opportunities

Your gift to the Children’s Home can help make an important difference in the lives of children and families. Whether it is a gift of cash, stock, volunteer hours or hard goods, we appreciate all that you do. Together we can help provide safety, stability and well-being to children and families.

Designated or named gifts may be made with a gift of $10,000 or more . . . a wonderful way to honor or remember someone you love.

Donations Made Easy

Cash

Cash is the easiest kind of gift to make to the Children’s Home, and gifts of cash are tax deductible.
(See IRS guidelines for specific information.)

Retirement Benefits

You may make a gift to the Children’s Home of retirement benefits, thus removing your retirement plan assets from your estate potentially avoiding some taxes.

Appreciated Stock

It makes sense to give a gift of appreciated stock, which you have held more than one year, because it generally offers substantial tax savings. If you donate the stock to the Children’s Home, you may avoid having to pay capital gains tax.

Wills and Bequests

You may wish to include a bequest to the Children’s Home in your will. Your bequest may be tax-deductible. Changing a will can be simple and inexpensive.

Real Estate

A gift to the Children’s Home of real property can offer tax saving. If you make a gift of the property, you may receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the property, and you may also avoid having to pay capital gains tax.

Wish List Items

We regret that we are not always able to accept donations of used clothing, used furniture and used household items. If you wish to make a donation of gently used items you no longer have a use for, please call first.

We can also use new items, such as books, stationery and personal care items. Give us a call and we would be happy to help you. See our Wish List for specific items.

Life Insurance

You may make a gift of life insurance to the Children’s Home that provides you with a significant tax deduction. This can be done by purchasing a new policy or by donating a policy that you currently own, but no longer need.

Your Gift is Welcome at Any Time!

Many donors view an annual gift as part of an overall strategy for reducing taxable income.
You may also wish to give a “planned gift” . . . a legacy, as part of your estate, or as part of your long-term financial strategies.
Donors to the Endowment Fund can be specially recognized in a number of ways. Recognition of your gift(s) will be done in the manner with which you are comfortable.

Who Manages the Endowment Fund?

A professional management team manages our portfolio of investments and is given oversight by the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. The manner in which the agency invests and employs its endowment is also examined as part of the annual audit. A copy of our annual audit is available upon request.
