Thursday, February 20, 2020 Classroom 5 was honored with another chance to visit with our Veteran friends at the Syracuse VA Medical Center.
For this journey, our VA contact, Suzanne Hawes, asked the students if they could help the Veterans make no-bake cherry cheesecakes. As one could imagine – once I asked my students if they would be interested – they all jumped at the chance with smiles!
During our visit, we were blessed with Phil, Ken, Howie and Bud’s company! We crushed graham crackers, mixed ingredients AND THEN….put a cherry on top!
In between letting the mixture set, we played trivia with our friends. They were extremely quick to answer! We all laughed, and as always, are so grateful and honored to have these new friends in our lives. We are thankful for their amazing staff who help make these connections, and our endeavor, possible!
