Over the four weeks following Thanksgiving, the TGIF Cafe has collected donations of hats, gloves and scarves in order to graciously deliver these items to the Volunteers of America (VOA) Homeless Shelter in Binghamton. Classroom 5 decided that collecting these items could help those, currently in a position unable to help themselves.
Upon Arriving, the VOA staff were so excited to be receiving the donations; in addition to being extremely impressed that the students provided a service in which payment was in the manner of paying it forward! Everyone emphatically gave their “Thank Yous” to the students, as the students wished everyone in the room a very happy holiday.
Another wonderful experience that I was fortunate enough to both bring to my students – and more importantly, to have a group of students so willing and thoughtful to provide needed attention and care to those they do not know. My pride for this group of students continues to grow each and every day. It is their hearts and this agency’s support that make experiences like this possible and encouraged. Thank you Children’s Home!
